AT SEA OFF THE COAST OF BRAZIL - DAY 10

Our position at noon is shown with the triangle in the circle.  It is overcast and 79 degrees this afternoon.  Our Captain said due to the current and winds we would be arriving 1 to 2 hours late tomorrow in Salvador.

LAST EVENING
Interesting to watch the waiters scurry about at their station.  Orders are brought here from the galley and they the waiters serve them to the tables.
We both started with the hearts of palm salad with tomatoes  and a green goddess dressing.  One of our favorite salads.
Rebecca had the grilled salmon filet on top of Beluga lentils with root vegetables.  She ordered it cooked medium rare and it was perfect.  She loved it.
I ordered the chateaubriand medium rare and it also was perfect.  I also had a baked potato and we shared some creamed spinach.
                                                               Loved the cream brulee.
We finished dinner an hour before the show was to start so decided to skip the show and head back to the suite and retire.  As I said comedians are not our favorite entertainers on ships.
The Captain mentioned in this departure PA that we would probably experience some rough seas tomorrow.  Neither of us have ever been sea sick during our over 100 cruises and don't plan on getting sea sick.  We both "practice safe cruising" by bringing the acupuncture wrist bands.  I also bring some scopolamine patches to be placed behind an ear.  It is a prescription item.  I cut one in half and placed it behind my ear last night before going to bed.  I just use a half of one as whole one makes you drowsy.  Doubt I even need to use a half but why not!
He also said we have to sail 775 miles to get to Salvador, Brazil, so that's why we have a day at sea.

TODAY

The ship did start "rocking" about some last night and it continues today.  Room service showed up 10 minutes early again this morning.  Omelets are hot now after mentioning the problem.  I had a few bites, then enjoyed a chocolate chip muffin.
Rebecca is going to give the treadmill a try this morning.  Not sure if the rocking about will be safe but she'll try.
I had booked the Connoisseur Wine Lunch at 12:30 today down in Compass Rose.  It costs $169 but worth it as Emiliano is very knowledgeable and informative as he describes wines and wine making.

This is the menu for the wine luncheon showing what wines are paired with the 5 course lunch.
The wines for the luncheon are selected from the Connoisseur wine list.  Wines in here are ones you have to pay extra for.
                                                           Wine display for the luncheon.
Some of the red wines being decanted.
Executive Chef John describing today's lunch menu items.
Head Sommelier, Emiliano, described each wine prior to the courses.  He is THE best!  He told me he will be opening as head sommelier on the new Prestige ship when it comes out in December.  We are already booked on it!
There were 25 of us at the luncheon today.  This champagne started us off prior.  Rebecca does not go to the luncheons as she always has her Atkins meal bar for lunch.
                                                                     My table set up.
The champagne served with the first course is this Veuve  Clicquot brut rose chardonnay, pinot noir, pinot meunier from Reims, France.  I'm not a big fan of champagne.  Cost $116.

This is the first course.  It is a sea scallop ceviche.
A 2023 Lamblin & Fils chablis also from France was served with the 2nd course.  Cost $85.

The second course was this truffled potato capelitas.  It was very good.
A 2023 Archery Summit pinot noir from Dundee Hills, Oregon, was served with the third course.  Cost $149.

Atlantic salmon ballotine with a maracuja sauce was our 3rd course.
This 2019 Shafer Vineyards Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa, CA, was our 4th course wine.  Cost $501.

Our 4th course was this pan-roasted venison loin.  How about the presentation!!  Very good.
Last but not least, was a 2023 Inniskillin Pear Vidal Icewine from Niagara, Canada.  Cost $127.

Dessert was a chocolate biscuit with dulce de leche, and a mango sauce.  I only had one bite.  The luncheon started at 12:30 and we finished at 2:30.  I had to hurry up and get hungry for dinner.

This evening is the Seven Seas Society Cocktail Party at 5:45 in the theater.  Only SSS members are invited.  There are about 225 passengers who are on their first Regent cruise and are not invited.  There will be a receiving line as we enter the theater by the ship's officers.  Cocktails and canapes will be served prior to a welcome on stage by Captain Ubaldo and our Cruise Consultants.  The production singers will perform a number or two.   Above is the Compass Rose menu for tonight.  We are looking forward to having the miso-glazed sea bass.  Definitely our favorite of all Regent entrees!!
The show is featuring Peter Grant in concert.  We have not heard this performer before but do want to attend his show.
Boa Noite, that's good evening in Portuguese.

HOMEWARD BOUND - MARCH 13TH

Our position is back in Miami.  End of our cruise. LAST EVENING                               ...
