At noon on sea days the captain makes a PA announcement about the weather, our position, sea conditions, etc. These are navigation maps for our tv showing our noon position. From looking at the bottom map it appears we are about half way from Rio Grande to our next port at Porto Belo, Brazil. It is 77 degrees outside at noon with a 26 knot wind from the east. Our speed is 12.5 knots (15 MPH). The wave height is 5 feet.
LAST EVENING
Having Grey Goose martinis at cocktail hour in honor of our good friend from Toronto, Marcia Rector. No chips this evening Marcia, but jalapeno poppers instead. There is a film crew from the UK filming a documentary for a tv station. They were filming the bartender, Nimesh, in the Meridian Lounge when we arrived. He was even miked. We sit at the bar so will also be UK tv stars! I believe they said channel 4 in London. We dined at Reymark's station in Compass Rose again. I got a photo of him this time. Since I neglected to get a photo the night before of escargot, I had to order it again.
Another one of my favorite appetizers was on the menu. Had to have this chicken & goose liver parfait with a fig-cranberry jam and toasted brioche. How about that presentation!! Here it is!!! The veal parmesan with spaghetti. It is HUGE. We shared this and still had a third of it left. The veal was very good and tender. I also had to have the apple strudel with a vanilla sauce. Ok, some ice cream too!
We went to Stephanie Webber's show at 9:30. She has a beautiful voice but after her first song she went off on a long talk instead of performing. So we left.
TODAY
As this is a sea day, I thought I would give you a tour of the ship. This is the atrium with Reception Desk, Excursions Desk, Internet/Computer room, offices for general manager, pursers, cruise consultants, executive concierge, dining reservations, and cruise director.
These are photos of the Coffee Connection. It is where I go every morning to get our first cup of coffee from the barista. In the second photo there are light breakfast foods in the morning and snacks the rest of the day. You can even make your own coffees.
Also on deck 5 is the Pacific Rim restaurant. Interesting entrance dragon. It features Asian foods.
Theater main seating is on deck 4 with balcony seating on deck 5.
There is a very nice library.
Also on deck 11 forward is the Explorer Lounge. It is the largest of the three lounges. A pianist plays there before and after diner. Nice views from windows.
This is the Meridian Lounge on deck 5. This is the lounge we go to for our cocktail hour before dinner. Different members of the ship's orchestra entertain before dinner and again after the theater show at 10:15 for dancing. Boutiques (shops) are on deck 4.
Casino is also on deck 4.
Entrance to Compass Rose
Some photos of Compass Rose, the main dining room.
The Serene Spa is on deck 5 aft. Here you can get a hair cut, mani/pedi, massage, steam room, sauna, and there is an infinity pool looking out at sea.
The gym is very nice. There is also a room for exercise classes and weight lifting. This is where Rebecca goes every morning for her treadmill time. The Culinary Kitchen is up on deck 11. On sea days there are cooking classes here. Think they cost $129 now. Also on deck 11 is a room for smoking and card room.
Let's go out to the pool on deck 11. There also deck chairs up on deck 12 where the walking/running track is located.
Also on deck 12 aft are the sports games: pickle ball, baggo, shuffle board, putt-putt, and golf driving net.
On deck 11 aft is La Veranda. It is a breakfast and lunch buffet restaurant. At night one side of the restaurant is turned into Sette Mari, an Italian restaurant. We love Sette Mari! Ice cream station
Just outside of La Veranda is the pool grill. Recently they have opened it for dinner with casual dress code.
This is the French restaurant, Chartreuse. We never dine here as we do not care for French cooking.
This is Prime 7, the steak house. They also have seafood items, like lobster.
Small bar just outside at the entrance to Prime 7.
This is Prime 7, the steak house. They also have seafood items, like lobster.
This is the third lounge, Splendor Lounge on deck 4 just outside of Compass Rose. There a couple singing here pre-dinner and for late night dancing.
Enough with the ship's tour! We went up to La Veranda for lunch. I started with some potato-carrot soup. Of course my anchovies & blu cheese and some Greek salad. I ordered a hamburger from the pool grill but forgot to take a photo of it. Next time. Their hamburgers are really good. I had a little potato salad with it.
After we watched Bold & Beautiful streamed on Rebecca's phone, I went to the theater for a presentation on "Famous Figures of South America" by an Argentinian guest speaker, Kevin Saslavchik. What a last name! The talk was on three figures: Evita Peron, Carlos Gardel (famous singer, composer, and actor during the early 1900's), and Pepe Mujica (president of Uruguay 2010 to 2015). At 6pm is the ship wide "Block Party". This is unique to Regent. The bell from the bridge will sound over the PA and everyone is to go out in the hallways with their wine glasses. The suite stewards/stewardess's will be serving wine and canapes while you meet your neighbors. In the meantime, the Captain, GM, and cruise director will be racing through all the hallways on all the decks toasting everyone.
Right after that we will head down to Meridian Lounge as usual for cocktail hour. Here is tonight's Compass Rose menu. There are several entrees we like so tough decisions.
The show tonight is featuring "the Pampas Devils" doing a tango show. I assume they are from Argentina. Should be a very good show.
We will be anchoring at 7am in our next port of call, Porto Belo, Brazil.
